Dear PART Express Passengers:
PART has proposed making time schedule changes to Routes 1, 2, and 3. Your input is extremely valuable in helping us make informed decisions for our public service on PART Express.
The purpose of these changes is to create better connection opportunities to our city transit systems, and a better connection between PART Express routes 1, 2, 3, and Airport Area Shuttles.
Comments that we have heard in the past relate to passengers NOT being able to make connections onto the city transit systems (WSTA, GTA, High Point Transit). To clarify, the majority of routes operated by GTA, WSTA, and PART have timed schedules at the top (eg., 1:00pm), and bottom (eg., 1:30pm) of the hour. Therefore, the opportunity to make a transfer between systems can be difficult. The difficulty exists for many external variables (traffic, accidents on roadway, heavy passenger loads, etc.).
We are proposing to change the time tables for PART Express buses to leave at 15 after and 45 after the hour. The Airport Shuttle schedules would also be changed to maintain the transfer from Routes 1, 2, and 3 at the Coble Transportation Center (CTC). This change will provide the same level of service that is currently provided. However, the chance of missing a connection at the city bus terminals will be lessened.
What does this mean to your commute schedule? In some cases, it means you will have to start your commute 15 minutes earlier than you currently do; or you have saved 15 minutes to your commute, and you can start later. Whichever is the outcome, PART requests your input. We have received comments from riders, but we are seeking more comments from riders on Routes 1, 2 and 3 so our decisions are the best results from the comments received.
If you would like to provide comments, or better understand these proposed adjustments PART staff will be at the Coble Transportation Center on Thursday, June 6th from 6:30am – 8:30am.
